FAQ's

How does the digital display work?

The FlowVis Digital Display provides real-time readings of gallons per minute (GPM) for water flow and velocity of the water passing through the system. The display is designed to be clear and easy to read, allowing users to quickly interpret data and make necessary adjustments.

Flow meters like this are essential to figure out how fast your variable speed pump needs to run. It can also be used to calibrate how long your single speed pump needs to run, the objective being to get at least a one full turnover of your water each day.

This device works well, but not sure how accurate it is because I have nothing to compare to. It is a little hard to read - you have to look at it perpendicular to where the red indicator is in order to see it well.

If you want to know that you're taking care of your pool and its equipment properly, you need a flow meter, and this in line meter is great: easy to install, accurate, and easy to read. It will help you determine that you're pumping enough water, but not too much, through your pool filter, and pool heater, so that you can optimize running times, etc.

Works as described. Installed on a 1.5 inch pipe. DIY install for most. It was straight forward and took 40 minutes as I took my time and was methodical being my first install. I will use the FlowVis to monitor my pool filter pressure in addition to the existing gauge but more importanly to record flow as I program my anticipated new variable speed pump to program to run the necessary amount of time. The energy savings from my variable speed pump vs my current single speed will pay for the new pump and FlowVis in an estimated 18 month's here in California where the energy rates are 29cents per kWh.

This is a must-have if you have a variable speed pump. I created a spreadsheet using measured flow across the RPM range of my variable speed pump. The data allowed me to find the “sweet spot” for flow and energy efficiency. I was able to program a schedule that has a 3x per day turn-over and only costs me a little over $30 per month. Water is so much clearer. Without the flow meter you are just guessing. My originalpump schedule was only turning the water over 1.8x per day. Water looks sooooo much cleaner. Also swapped out my sand for glass. Filter pressure dropped, water is polished, all is good. There is no use having a Variable Speed pump if you don’t use a flow meter to optimize it. Great investment.

I am glad that I bought it. It removes the guess work for the variable speed pump. My pump shows wattage for every speed, so I've built the table watts vs gpm vs pump speed and determined that my system is most energy efficient at about 20 gpm. To calculate efficiency, divide gpm by watts. Build a table by tuning the pump speed to achieve different gpm values, record the wattage and pump speed for each gpm value. You need to circulate your pool one time a day. so you can select different speeds to achieve one circulation at smallest possible watt x hours. Then I've removed the return jet fitting that is 3/4" openning to check what effect it has, and it turns out it reduces the gpm by 10! I am tossing it out and looking for a larger jet. I have to determine the most efficient gpm again after that. I guess it is now around 30 gpm.
